Appeals
In Virginia, a party (by or against whom a lawsuit is brought) has the right to appeal a final judgment from a state circuit court to the Court of Appeals of Virginia. The job of the appellate court is to review the written record of the trial court to determine whether specified legal errors occurred. A party aggrieved by a final decision of the Court of Appeals of Virginia may petition the Supreme Court of Virginia for an appeal.
In the District of Columbia, a party has the right to appeal a final order or decision from the Superior Court to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Isaac Post has experience handling all aspects of the appellate process, including the drafting of appellate briefs, in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
